This market specialized in Chanya Cholis, which are the beautiful, three - piece traditional ladies' outfits. These three pieces are: a small (often backless) top, a dress, and a shawl. Generally speaking, there are many ornate & colorful styles of designs & embroidery. Cotton, silk, jute, and synthetic fibers are some of the materials used. There are many photos of these outfits that I took below. The average price at the night market for a chanya choli, without bargaining, was about $5-$20 USD. I saw websites where these outfits sell for $300+ in the US. For example, http://www.vulcal.com/product.asp?cat=cholis.

The hand woven bedspreds cost about $5 - $10 US. I imagine there is a large market for these in the USA. The price would be lower for a bulk order. Very inexpensive, very good price.

Most one piece shirts & dresses could be had for about $1 each, if a bulk order was placed. This is an incredible price.

The prices and selection here were very good. I look forward to getting some feedback from the US, in regards to what items there is an interest in. I will return here soon with my Indian business manager / $ negotiator Hitesh as soon as is required, to do some hard bargaining & purchasing. Ahmedbad is only about a 2-3 hour train ride from our home / base here in Baroda.

I am off to Bhuj tonight (the "Wild West of India") to do some further exploration & product research. I take the midnite train (it's about 9 P.M. now). It gets in to Bhuj / Kutch about 10 A.M. I hope to head up thru Rajisthan after that. So, I look forward to some new adventures .
